We used isometric design to highlight the difference between ‘Light’ and ‘Deep’ retrofits. The graphic aimed to visually highlight the level of disruption that each process had, alongside how thorough and effective each approach was.

By laying out these contrasting approaches next to each other, it was clear for the reader to make comparisons visually that they would have struggled to see in text. For example, we highlighted that floors would be majorly disrupted with an orange color scheme, and added silouettes of office workers and workmen to indicate building users at different stages of retrofit.

We also indicated the disruption to the building as a whole by using a small isometric building illustration to indicate the reach of the disruption next to each diagram.

Key infographic 2:

We used the infographic highlighting the key consideration for ‘Low Carbon Commercial Retrofits’ to extract icons acting as identifiers for the corresponding sections on the subjects. We also used numbers as a second level of categorisation.
